The Grove “wows” people as they enter the property, but the best part of any stay is the personal attention given by innkeepers, Ann and Denley Caughman. Guests quickly realize that they are staying in more than a bed and breakfast and that inn keeping is more than a job for the Caughmans.
Guest comfort is a passion for Denley and Ann. Owning and operating The Grove has fulfilled Ann and Denley’s life-long desire to own a historical property and entertain. Their interests include collecting antiques, furniture making, architectural woodwork, history, cooking, camping, and music. These hobbies make The Grove so much fun that their fellow innkeepers remark that they are “playing” more than working.
Ann and Denley met while attending Charleston Southern University and married in 1971. After more than 30 years in Christian ministry that brought a steady stream of guests and visitors to their home, Ann says she has been running a bed and breakfast all of her adult life.
The Caughmans have two grown children and another who looks to them as parents for a total of three children, three in-laws and 7 grands. Most of their family lives close by. How perfect!
